Removal and Installation

- Drain the powertrain secondary cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING in this service information.
- Remove the grille. for additional information, refer to EXTERIOR TRIM & ORNAMENTATION article.
- Detach the RH air deflector pushpin from the high temperature thermostat cover.
- Remove the 2 bolts, the high temperature thermostat cover and the high temperature thermostat.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
- To install, tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install a new high temperature thermostat O-ring seal and lubricate it with clean engine coolant.

NOTE:
Evaluate the cooling system condition before filling the cooling system. Failure to follow these instructions can damage the engine or cooling system.
