Removal and Installation

WARNING:
When handling fuel, always observe fuel handling precautions and be prepared in the event of fuel spillage. Spilled fuel may be ignited by hot vehicle components or other ignition sources. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.
NOTE:
Some residual fuel may remain in the fuel tubes after releasing the fuel system pressure. Upon disconnecting or removing any fuel tubes, carefully drain any residual fuel into a suitable container.
All vehicles
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING article.
- Release the fuel system pressure. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION - GASOLINE AND DIESEL article.
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, BATTERY MOUNTING SYSTEM & BATTERY CABLES article.
- Disconnect the front fuel supply tube-to-fuel filter inlet quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION - GASOLINE AND DIESEL article.
- Disconnect the front fuel return tube-to-fuel injection pump return tube quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION - GASOLINE AND DIESEL article.
- Disconnect the front fuel return tube-to-fuel cooler quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION - GASOLINE AND DIESEL article.
- Disconnect the rear fuel supply tube-to-front fuel supply tube quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION - GASOLINE AND DIESEL article.
- Disconnect the fuel supply and return tube assembly retainer from the bracket on the side of the transmission.
- Remove the 2 bolts, front fuel supply and return tube assembly from the rear of the engine and remove from the vehicle.
- To install, tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
- Disconnect the rear fuel return tube-to-fuel cooler quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION - GASOLINE AND DIESEL article.
- Remove the fuel conditioning module. For additional information, refer to FUEL CONDITIONING MODULE - 6.7L DIESEL in this service information.
- Remove the midship fuel tank. For additional information, refer to FUEL TANK - MIDSHIP in this service information.
- Remove the fuel tank selector valve. For additional information, refer to FUEL TANK SELECTOR VALVE .
- Disconnect the fuel supply tube-to-fuel level sensor quick connect coupling and the fuel return tube-to-fuel level sensor quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION - GASOLINE AND DIESEL article.
- Disconnect the 1 or 2 front brake tube fittings.
- To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
- Disconnect the 1 or 2 rear brake tube fittings from the flexible brake hose.
- To install, tighten to 18 Nm (159 lb-in).
- Remove the rear fuel supply tube and rear fuel return tube assembly retainer nuts and remove the complete line set from the vehicle.
- To install, tighten to 18 Nm (159 lb-in).
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.

NOTE:
Three-Channel anti-lock brake systems have 2 fittings (one front and one rear) and Four-Channel anti-lock brake systems have 4 fittings (two front and two rear). Plug each fitting to prevent brake fluid from spilling.
