Exhaust Manifold - RH: Removal

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING article.
- Remove the transmission filler tube. For additional information, refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION - TORQSHIFT article.
- Remove the starter. For additional information, refer to STARTING SYSTEM - GASOLINE ENGINES article.
- Remove the RH inner fenderwell. For additional information, refer to BODY PANEL SYSTEM - FRONT END BODY PANELS article.
- Remove the exhaust Y-pipe. For additional information, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM article.
- Remove the 2 bolts and the exhaust manifold heat shield.
- Remove and discard the 10 exhaust manifold nuts and the 10 exhaust manifold-to-cylinder head studs.
- Remove the exhaust manifold and discard the exhaust manifold gaskets.
- Clean the sealing surfaces with metal surface prep. Follow the directions on the packaging.

NOTE:
Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges which make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove all traces of old sealant. Failure to follow this procedure may cause future oil leakage.
