WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Ford Pickup, 2010 Ford F550 Super Duty, 2010 Ford F450 Super Duty, and 2010 Ford Cab & Chassis. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. J1 CHECK THE LOW TO HIGH/HIGH TO LOW RELAY CIRCUITS FOR VOLTAGE
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: Low to High Relay C1129.
    • Disconnect: High to Low Relay C1173.
    • Measure the voltage between low to high motor relay C1129- 87, circuit SBB26 (YE/RD), harness side and ground.
    • Measure the voltage between high to low motor relay C1173- 87, circuit SBB48 (VT/RD), harness side and ground.

    • Are the voltages 9 volts or greater?
    • Yes:  GO to J2  .
    • No:  VERIFY BJB  fuse 26 (30A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR circuit SBB26 (YE/RD). If not OK, REFER to the appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  2. J2 CHECK THE LOW TO HIGH/HIGH TO LOW RELAY GROUND CIRCUITS
    • Measure the resistance between low to high motor relay C1129-87a, circuit GD122 (BK), harness side and ground.
    • Measure the resistance between high to low motor relay C1173-87a, circuit GD122 (BK), harness side and ground.

    • Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
    • Yes:  GO to J3  .
    • No:  REPAIR the affected circuit(s). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  3. J3 CHECK CIRCUITS CCF07 (BN/GN) AND CCF08 (GY/OG) FOR AN OPEN
    • Disconnect: Transfer Case C350B.
    • Measure the resistance between transfer case C350B-1, harness side and high to low motor relay C1173-30, circuit CCF08 (GY/OG), harness side.

    • Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
    • Yes:  GO to J4  .
    • No:  REPAIR the affected circuit(s). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  4. J4 CHECK THE RELAY CONTROL CIRCUITS CCF27 (GY) AND CCF28 (VT/GY) FOR AN OPEN
    • Disconnect: 4X4 Control Module C281A.
    • Measure the resistance between the 4X4 control module C281A-6, harness side and high to low relay C1173-86, circuit CCF27 (GY) harness side.

    • Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
    • Yes:  CARRY OUT the ISO Relay Component Test.

Refer to COMPONENT TESTING -- F250- F550 for component testing.

INSTALL a new relay(s) as necessary.

    • No:  REPAIR the affected circuit(s). CLEAR the DTCs. INSPECT and if necessary, clean the 4X4 control module and 4X4 relay connectors. REPEAT the self-test.
