Oil Pan - Lower, Partial Body Lift: Installation

All vehicles 

  1. Install a new press-in-place gasket for the oil pan.
  2. NOTE: Install a new O-ring seal on the oil pickup tube and place the tube in the oil pan.
  3. Position the oil pan and install the pickup tube and 2 bolts.
    • Tighten to 13 Nm (115 lb-in).
  4. Install the oil pan and the 22 bolts.
    1. Install the 5 longer oil pan bolts.
    2. Install the 17 remaining oil pan bolts.
      • Tighten to 13 Nm (115 lb-in).

  5. NOTE: Make sure the motor mount studs are aligned with the frame openings.
  6. With the help of an assistant, lower the engine and the body at the same time.
  7. Remove the straps and reposition the hoist to the frame of the vehicle.
  8. Position the steering shaft into the housing. Install the new steering shaft bolt.
    • Tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).

  9. Position back the master cylinder and bracket. Install the 2 retaining nuts.
    • Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).

  10. Connect the brake tubes into the retaining clip.

    Vehicles with dual generator 

  11. Install the secondary generator. For additional information, refer to CHARGING SYSTEM .

    All vehicles 

  12. Install the upper cooling fan shroud. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
  13. Install the ACL  assembly. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING .
  14. Connect the retaining clip for the power steering cooler tube at the frame.

  15. Install new body bolts.
    • Tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).

  16. NOTE: RH side shown in the illustration, LH side similar.
  17. If equipped, install the running boards and 18 bolts.
    • Tighten to 13 Nm (115 lb-in).

  18. Connect the retaining clip for the transmission cooler tubes at the frame.

  19. Position back the ground strap and install the bolt.
    • Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

  20. Position back the transmission cooler tubes on the stud and install the nut.
    • Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).

  21. NOTE: Only use hand tools when installing the transmission mount retaining nuts or damage to the transmission mount may occur.
  22. Install the 2 new transmission mount retaining nuts.
    • Tighten to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft).

  23. NOTE: Only use hand tools when installing the engine mount retaining nuts or damage to the engine mount may occur.
  24. Install the 3 new LH engine mount retaining nuts.
    • Tighten to 200 Nm (148 lb-ft).

  25. NOTE: Only use hand tools when installing the engine mount retaining nuts or damage to the engine mount may occur.
  26. Install the 4 new RH engine mount retaining nuts.
    • Tighten to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft).

  27. Install the 2 exhaust downpipe bolts.
    • Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

  28. Install the parking brake cable into the frame bracket.

  29. Connect the parking brake cable at the cable-to-cable union. For additional information, refer to PARKING BRAKE AND ACTUATION .
  30. With the help of an assistant, install the hood and 4 bolts. Connect the hood lift rods.
    • Tighten to 13 Nm (115 lb-in).

  31. Connect the underhood light electrical connector and pin-type retainers.

  32. Connect the windshield washer hose.

  33. Fill the engine with the correct motor oil for the climate. For additional information, refer to ENGINE .
  34. Connect the battery ground cables. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
