Engine Mount - RH, Partial Body Lift: Removal

All vehicles 

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position the vehicle on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
2. Remove the starter. For additional information, refer to STARTING SYSTEM - DIESEL ENGINES .

   Vehicles with A/C 

3. Remove the A/C compressor. For additional information, refer to CLIMATE CONTROL .

   Vehicles with dual generator 

4. Remove the secondary generator. For additional information, refer to CHARGING SYSTEM .

   All vehicles 

5. Disconnect the windshield washer hose.

6. Disconnect the underhood light electrical connector and pin-type retainers. Position the wiring aside.

NOTE: Mark the location of the hinges prior to removing the hood.

7. With the help of an assistant, disconnect the hood lift rods. Remove the 4 bolts and the hood.
8. Disconnect the parking brake cable at the cable-to-cable union. For additional information, refer to PARKING BRAKE AND ACTUATION .
9. Remove the parking brake cable from the frame bracket.

10. Remove the 2 exhaust downpipe bolts.

11. Remove and discard the 4 RH engine mount retaining nuts.

12. Remove and discard the 3 LH engine mount retaining nuts.

13. Remove and discard the 2 transmission mount retaining nuts.

14. Remove the retaining nut for the transmission cooler tubes. Disconnect the transmission cooler tubes from the stud.

15. Remove the bolt and position aside the ground strap.

16. Disconnect the retaining clip for the transmission cooler tubes at the frame.

17. If equipped, remove the 18 bolts and the running boards.
NOTE: Use hand tools only to remove the body bolts. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the cage nut.

18. Remove and discard the body bolts.
19. Disconnect the retaining clip for the power steering cooler tube at the frame.

20. Disconnect the MAF  sensor and filter minder electrical connectors. Disconnect the retaining clip and position the wiring aside.

NOTE: The Air Cleaner (ACL) is most easily removed by lifting under the ACL  outlet pipe end to tilt it upward and separate it from the ACL  outlet pipe, then pulling the ACL  up and away from the ACL  intake pipe.

21. Loosen the clamp and remove the ACL  assembly.
22. Disconnect the brake tubes from the retaining clip.

23. Remove the 2 retaining nuts. Position the bracket and master cylinder aside.

24. Remove and discard the bolt. Disconnect the steering shaft.

25. Position the fender covers between the cab and the body.
26. Chock the tires.
WARNING: Securely strap the cab to the lift using an appropriate tool. If the cab is not correctly secured, it could shift or fall. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

27. Position the hoist to the body. Using the Universal Cab Hold-Down Straps, secure the body to the hoist.
28. Install the Engine Lifting Bracket on the Front End Accessory Drive (FEAD) bracket.

NOTE: Use a Heavy Duty Lifting Crane and load leveler rated at a minimum of 907 kg (2,000 lb) or damage to the vehicle may occur.

29. Position the Heavy Duty Lifting Crane with a commercially available load leveler and attach the chains to the front of the engine.
30. Loosen the center bolt for the RH engine mount.
31. Remove and discard the 2 studs for the RH engine mount.
NOTE: If the engine or body is raised too quickly, the space required to remove the RH engine mount will not be enough. Check the height several times while lifting.
32. With the help of an assistant, lift the engine and raise the body 101.6 mm (4 in) at the same time. Check the clearance between the cab mount and the body.
33. Support the engine with jackstands or other suitable support devices.
34. Remove and discard the center bolt for the RH engine mount.
NOTE: The engine mount bracket bolts must be discarded and new bolts installed or damage to the vehicle may occur. They are a torque-to-yield design and cannot be reused.
35. Position the RH engine mount forward until the 2 rear bolts for the RH engine mount bracket are accessible. Remove and discard the 2 rear bolts.
NOTE: The engine mount bracket bolts must be discarded and new bolts installed or damage to the vehicle may occur. They are a torque-to-yield design and cannot be reused.
36. Position the RH engine mount rearward until the 2 front bolts for the RH engine mount bracket are accessible. Remove and discard the 2 front bolts. Position the RH engine mount bracket to the rear of the engine. Remove the RH engine mount and the RH engine mount bracket.
