Engine Mount - RH, Partial Body Lift: Installation

All vehicles 

  1. Clean the engine support insulator-to-cylinder block and engine support insulator-to-frame mating surfaces of any dirt or foreign material prior to installation.
  2. NOTE: The engine mount bracket bolts must be discarded and new bolts installed or damage to the vehicle may occur. They are a torque-to-yield design and cannot be reused.
  3. Position the RH engine mount bracket in the vehicle. Position the RH engine mount in the vehicle. Position back the RH engine mount bracket and loosely install the 2 new front bolts.
  4. NOTE: The engine mount bracket bolts must be discarded and new bolts installed or damage to the vehicle may occur. They are a torque-to-yield design and cannot be reused.
  5. Position the RH engine mount to the front of the vehicle and install the 2 new rear bolts for the RH engine mount bracket.
  6. NOTE: The engine mount bracket bolts must not be tightened more than 90 degrees after initial torque or damage to the bolts may occur.
    NOTE: Place a visible mark on the engine mount bracket and bracket bolts. Turning the bolt 1 flat of the bolt head is equal to 60 degrees.
  7. Tighten the 4 bolts for the RH engine mount bracket in 2 stages.
    • Stage 1: Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
    • Stage 2: Tighten a minimum of an additional 60 degrees.
  8. Position the RH engine mount in the frame.
  9. NOTE: It may be necessary to adjust the RH engine mount during the lowering of the engine for correct alignment.
  10. Lower the engine and the body until the new center bolt for the RH engine mount can be installed.
  11. Install the 2 new studs for the RH engine mount.
    • Tighten to 80 Nm (59 lb-ft).
  12. Tighten the center bolt for the RH engine mount.
    • Tighten to 350 Nm (258 lb-ft).
  13. With the help of an assistant, lower the engine and the body at the same time.
  14. Remove the Universal Cab Hold-Down Straps and reposition the hoist to the frame of the vehicle.
  15. Position the steering shaft into the housing. Install the new steering shaft bolt.
    • Tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).

  16. Position back the master cylinder and bracket. Install the 2 retaining nuts.
    • Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).

  17. Connect the brake tubes into the retaining clip.

  18. Install the ACL  assembly and tighten the clamp.
    • Tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).

  19. Connect the wiring retaining clip. Connect the MAF  sensor and the filter minder electrical connectors.

  20. Connect the retaining clip for the power steering cooler tube at the frame.

  21. Install new body bolts.
    • Tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).

  22. NOTE: RH side shown in the illustration, LH side similar.
  23. If equipped, install the running boards and 18 bolts.
    • Tighten to 13 Nm (115 lb-in).

  24. Connect the retaining clip for the transmission cooler tubes at the frame.

  25. Position back the ground strap and install the bolt.
    • Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

  26. Position back the transmission cooler tubes on the stud and install the nut.
    • Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).

  27. NOTE: Only use hand tools when installing the transmission mount retaining nuts or damage to the transmission mount may occur.
  28. Install the 2 new transmission mount retaining nuts.
    • Tighten to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft).

  29. NOTE: Only use hand tools when installing the engine mount retaining nuts or damage to the engine mount may occur.
  30. Install the 3 new LH engine mount retaining nuts.
    • Tighten to 200 Nm (148 lb-ft).

  31. NOTE: Only use hand tools when installing the engine mount retaining nuts or damage to the engine mount may occur.
  32. Install the 4 new RH engine mount retaining nuts.
    • Tighten to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft).

  33. Install the 2 exhaust downpipe bolts.
    • Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

  34. Install the parking brake cable into the frame bracket.

  35. Connect the parking brake cable at the cable-to-cable union. For additional information, refer to PARKING BRAKE AND ACTUATION .
  36. With the help of an assistant, install the hood and 4 bolts. Connect the hood lift rods.
    • Tighten to 13 Nm (115 lb-in).

  37. Connect the underhood light electrical connector and pin-type retainers.

  38. Connect the windshield washer hose.

    Vehicles with dual generators 

  39. Install the secondary generator. For additional information, refer to CHARGING SYSTEM .

    Vehicles with A/C 

  40. Install the A/C compressor. For additional information, refer to CLIMATE CONTROL .

    All vehicles 

  41. Install the starter. For additional information, refer to STARTING SYSTEM - DIESEL ENGINES .
