Barometric Pressure (BARO) Sensor - 7.3L Di Diesel Only
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Ford Pickup, 2003 Ford F550 Super Duty, 2003 Ford F450 Super Duty, 2003 Ford Excursion, and 2003 Ford Cab & Chassis. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- The Barometric Pressure Sensor (BARO) Sensor operates similarly to the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor.
- It measures barometric pressure instead of intake manifold pressure.
- The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) uses the signal from the BARO Sensor to determine the altitude at which the vehicle is operating.
- The PCM then adjusts the transmission shift schedule and EPC pressure for the altitude.
