Torque Converter One-Way Clutch Check

  1. Insert the One-Way Clutch Holding Tool (307-067) in one of the grooves in the stator thrust washer.

  2. Install the One-Way Clutch Holding Tool (307-062) in the converter pump drive.

  3. Using torque wrench, turn the special tool counterclockwise while holding the special tool stationary.
    • The converter one-way clutch should lock up and hold the specified torque.
    • The torque converter one-way clutch should rotate freely in the clockwise direction.
    • Try the clutch for lockup and hold in at least five positions.
    • If the clutch fails to lock up and hold the specified torque, install a new or remanufactured torque converter.
