Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) System Test: Purpose

The purpose of this test is to check the EGR valve travel positions.

EGR Position

Key ON, engine OFF.
Use the scan tool to command the EGRVPDES PID.
Monitor the EGRVP PID to calculate travel.

Correct concern causing out of specification values before continuing.

The purpose of this test is to check the operation of the intake throttle actuator.

Intake Throttle Position

Key ON, engine running.
Use the scan tool to command the EGRTP PID.
Monitor the MAP PID while commanding the EGRTP PID.
