P117B - Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Correlation - Bank 1

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Ford Pickup, 2008 Ford F550 Super Duty, 2008 Ford F450 Super Duty, and 2008 Ford Cab & Chassis. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
P117B - EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR CORRELATION - BANK 1

Description:  The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the 3 exhaust gas temperature (EGT) sensors at key ON, engine OFF, following an 8-hour soak to determine if a concern is present. The PCM compares the values of the 3 EGT sensors to verify the sensors correlate to each other. The test fails when the temperature difference at one of the EGT sensors is greater than 25°C (45°F).
Possible Causes:
  • Corrosion or poor mating terminals and wiring
  • Damaged EGT sensor
Diagnostic Aids:  Monitor the EGT PIDs to determine which one of the 3 sensors does not correlate.
Application    Key On Engine Off  Key On Engine Running  Continuous Memory
