P0337 - Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Low

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Ford Pickup, 2008 Ford F550 Super Duty, 2008 Ford F450 Super Duty, and 2008 Ford Cab & Chassis. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
P0337 - CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR A CIRCUIT LOW

Description:  The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the crankshaft position (CKP) and camshaft position (CMP) signals during engine cranking. The DTC is set when the CKP signal is inactive while the CMP signal indicates the engine is rotating. The PCM also monitors the CKP signal for electrical noise. When the electrical noise exceeds the calibrated threshold the DTC sets.
Possible Causes:
  • CKP circuit noise
  • CKP circuit open in the harness
  • CKP circuit short to ground in the harness
  • CKP sensor
Diagnostic Aids:  An inactive CKP signal causes a no start condition. Monitor the RPM PID while cranking the engine. A 0 RPM indicates a CKP concern.
