P0117 - Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit Low

P0117 - ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR 1 CIRCUIT LOW

Description:  Indicates the sensor signal is less than the self-test minimum. The engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor minimum is 0.2 volt or 121°C (250°F).
Possible Causes: 
  • Signal circuit short to ground
  • Damaged sensor
  • Incorrect harness connection
Diagnostic Aids:  An ECT PID reading less than 0.2 volt with key ON engine OFF or during any engine operating mode indicates a concern is present.
Application    Key On Engine Off  Key On Engine Running  Continuous Memory
