WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Ford Pickup, 2008 Ford F550 Super Duty, 2008 Ford F450 Super Duty, and 2008 Ford Cab & Chassis. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
P0004 - FUEL VOLUME REGULATOR CONTROL CIRCUIT HIGH

Description:  The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the state of the fuel volume control valve (FVCV) circuit output driver. The test fails when the signal moves outside the minimum or maximum limit for the commanded state.
Possible Causes:
  • Fuel volume control valve
  • FVCV circuit open in the harness
  • Fuel volume control valve connector
Diagnostic Aids:  A concern with the fuel volume control valve or FVCV circuit may cause an engine crank/no start condition. If the engine starts and the DTC P0001 is present, it indicates an intermittent concern.
