Test T: Seat Belt Warning Indicator Inoperative (Chime Is Operative): ZX2
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. If seat belt warning chime operates properly, go to next step. If seat belt warning chime does not operate properly, repair warning chime and related circuits. See WARNING SYSTEMS in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL. Retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove seat belt warning indicator bulb. Check continuity between bulb terminals. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, replace bulb. Retest system operation.
- Disconnect instrument cluster harness connectors. Disconnect central junction box 8-pin harness connector C230. Central junction box is located under left side of instrument panel. See Figure and Figure . Measure resistance of Pink/White wire between central junction box 8-pin harness connector C230 terminal No. 3 and Black instrument cluster 12-pin harness connector C252 terminal No. 2. See Figure. Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. Measure resistance between ground and Black instrument cluster 12-pin harness connector C252 terminal No. 2 (Pink/White wire). Resistance should be more than 10 k/ohms. If resistances are as specified, reconnect central junction box 8-pin harness connector C230 and go to next step. If resistances are not as specified, repair open or short to ground in Pink/White wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between ground and White instrument cluster 12-pin harness connector C258 terminal No. 12 (Black/Yellow wire). See Figure. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace printed circuit and gauge contact clips. See PRINTED CIRCUIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system operation. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Black/Yellow wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Retest system operation.
