Test R: High Beam Indicator Always On/Inoperative: ZX2
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Turn headlights on. Operate high beams. If high beams operate properly, turn headlights off and go to next step. If high beams do not operate properly, repair headlight circuit as necessary. See EXTERIOR LIGHTS in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL. Retest system operation.
- Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove high beam indicator bulb. Check continuity between bulb terminals. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, replace bulb. Retest system operation.
- Disconnect Black instrument cluster 12-pin harness connector C252. See Figure. Disconnect multifunction switch 6-pin harness connector C250, or Daytime Running Lights (DRL) control 8-pin harness connector C297 (if equipped). See Fig 1. Measure resistance of Red/White wire between Black instrument cluster 12-pin harness connector C252 terminal No. 6 and multifunction switch 6-pin harness connector C250 terminal No. 1 or DRL control 8-pin harness connector C297 terminal No. 3. See Figure and Fig 1
. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster printed circuit and gauge contact clips. See PRINTED CIRCUIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system operation. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Red/White wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Retest system operation.
