Test M: Abs Warning Indicator Always On/Inoperative: ZX2
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connectors. Disconnect Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) control module 40-pin harness connector C386. ABS control module is located on floor, under passenger seat. Measure resistance between ground and White instrument cluster 12-pin harness connector C258 terminal No. 2 (Yellow/Red wire). See Figure. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in Yellow/Red wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Retest system operation.
- Install 60-pin Breakout Box (014-00322) following manufacturer's instructions. Measure resistance of Yellow/Red wire between White instrument cluster 12-pin harness connector C258 terminal No. 2 and breakout box terminal No. 17. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Yellow/Red wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Retest system operation.
- Visually inspect instrument cluster printed circuit for damage, cracks or hot spots. If instrument cluster printed circuit appears okay, go to next step. If instrument cluster printed circuit appears damaged, replace printed circuit and gauge contact clips. See PRINTED CIRCUIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system operation.
- Remove ABS warning indicator bulb. Check continuity between bulb terminals. If continuity exists, repair ABS concern. See appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES. Retest system operation. If continuity does not exist, replace bulb. Retest system operation.
