Test K: Oil Pressure Warning Indicator Always On/Inoperative: ZX2
- Disconnect oil pressure switch 1-pin harness connector C119. Remove oil pressure switch. Using mechanical oil pressure gauge at oil pressure switch port, test engine oil pressure with engine hot. Pressure should be 54-80 psi (3.7-5.5 kg/cm2 ) at 4000 RPM. If oil pressure is as specified, reinstall oil pressure switch and go to next step. If oil pressure is not as specified, repair engine as necessary. Retest system operation.
- Disconnect oil pressure switch 1-pin harness connector C119. Measure resistance between ground and oil pressure switch terminal (component side) with engine off, then with engine running. Resistance with engine running should be more than 10 k/ohms. Resistance with engine off should be less than 5 ohms. If resistances are as specified, go to next step. If resistances are not as specified, replace oil pressure switch. Retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove low oil pressure warning indicator bulb. Check continuity between bulb terminals. If continuity exists, reinstall bulb and go to next step. If continuity does not exist, replace bulb. Retest system operation.
- Disconnect White instrument cluster 12-pin harness connector C258. See Figure. Disconnect oil pressure switch 1-pin harness connector C119. Measure resistance of Yellow/Red wire between White instrument cluster 12-pin harness connector C258 terminal No. 10 and oil pressure switch 1-pin harness connector C119. Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. Measure resistance between ground and White instrument cluster 12-pin harness connector C258 terminal No. 10 (Yellow/Red wire). Resistance should be more than 10 k/ohms. If resistances are as specified, replace printed circuit and gauge contact clips. See PRINTED CIRCUIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system operation. If resistances are not as specified, repair open or short to ground in Yellow/Red wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Retest system operation.
