Pinpoint Test X: The Trailer Lamps Are On Continuously
- X1 CHECK THE SJB
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: C2280c.
- Key in ON position.
- Observe the trailer lamps.
- Do(es) the trailer lamp(s) continue to illuminate?
Yes
GO to X2.
No
GO to X6.
- X2 CHECK THE TRAILER TOW SUPPLY CIRCUIT
- Disconnect: Suspect Trailer Tow Relay.
- Do(es) the trailer lamp(s) continue to illuminate?
Yes
GO to X3.
No
GO to X4.
- X3 CHECK THE BEC
- Disconnect: BEC C1035a.
- Do(es) the trailer lamp(s) continue to illuminate?
Yes
For the LH turn lamp, REPAIR circuit 52 (YE). TEST the system for normal operation.
For the RH turn lamp, REPAIR circuit 64 (DG). TEST the system for normal operation.
For the parking lamps, REPAIR circuit 962 (BN/WH). TEST the system for normal operation.
No
REPAIR or INSTALL a new BEC. TEST the system for normal operation.
- X4 CHECK THE TRAILER TOW RELAY
- Carry out the trailer tow relay component test.
Refer to COMPONENT TESTING for schematic and connector information .
- Is the trailer tow relay OK?
Yes
GO to X5.
No
INSTALL a new trailer tow relay. CLEAR any DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
- Carry out the trailer tow relay component test.
- X5 CHECK THE TRAILER TOW RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
- Connect: Suspect Trailer Tow Relay.
- Disconnect: BEC C1035a.
- Do(es) the trailer lamp(s) continue to illuminate?
Yes
REPAIR or INSTALL a new BEC. CLEAR any DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
For the LH turn lamp, REPAIR circuit 374 (DB/WH). CLEAR any DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
For the RH turn lamp, REPAIR circuit 378 (BN/YE). CLEAR any DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
For the parking lamps, REPAIR circuit 576 (DG). CLEAR any DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
- X6 CHECK FOR SJB OPERATION
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
- Check for:
- Corrosion
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new SJB. Refer to SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) . TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR any DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
