Safety Belt Buckle And PRETENSIONER - Front, Passenger Side: Installation

    All Seats 

    NOTE: Make sure to tighten the nut to specification.

  1. Install the safety belt buckle and pretensioner.
    1. Position the safety belt buckle and pretensioner onto the seat track bracket.
      • Align the safety belt buckle and pretensioner mounting bracket slot so that the seat track bracket anti-rotation tab goes through it.
    2. Install the nut.
  2. Route the safety belt buckle and pretensioner electrical connector and wire harness between the seat cushion frame and the seat track.

  3. Connect the safety belt buckle and pretensioner electrical connector.

  4. Reposition the seat cushion trim cover over the safety belt buckle and pretensioner and attach the J-clips.

  5. Position the passenger seat into the vehicle.
  6. With the passenger seat tilted toward the rear of the vehicle, connect the ten pin electrical connector.

    7. NOTE: If equipped, make sure to position the safety belt buckle anchor on top of the seat track before installing the nut.

  7. Install the passenger seat rear nuts.
  8. Install the passenger seat rear trim covers.

    Vehicles With Power Seats 

  9. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .

    10. All Vehicles 

  10. Position the passenger seat rearward.

    11. Vehicles With Power Seats 

    WARNING: To avoid accidental deployment and possible personal injury, the backup power supply must be depleted before repairing or replacing any front or side air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) components and before servicing, replacing, adjusting or striking components near the front or side air bag sensors, such as doors, instrument panel, console, door latches, strikers, seats and hood latches.
    Please refer to AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article to determine location of the front air bag sensors.
    The side air bag sensors are located at or near the base of the B-pillar.
    To deplete the backup power supply energy, disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute. Be sure to disconnect auxiliary batteries and power supplies (if equipped).
  11. Disconnect the battery ground cable (14301) and wait at least one minute. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .

    12. All Vehicles 

  12. Install the passenger seat front bolts.

  13. Install the passenger seat front trim covers.

  14. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  15. With the other restraint system diagnostic tools still in place, prove out the SRS. For additional information, refer to AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article .
  16. WARNING: To avoid accidental deployment and possible personal injury, the backup power supply must be depleted before repairing or replacing any front or side air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) components and before servicing, replacing, adjusting or striking components near the front or side air bag sensors, such as doors, instrument panel, console, door latches, strikers, seats and hood latches.
    Please refer to AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article to determine location of the front air bag sensors.
    The side air bag sensors are located at or near the base of the B-pillar.

    Disconnect the battery ground cable (14301) and wait at least one minute. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .

    17. WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, read and follow all warnings, cautions, notes and instructions in the supplemental restraint system (SRS) deactivation and reactivation procedure.
  17. Reactivate the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) DEACTIVATION AND REACTIVATION .
    18. WARNING: The restraint system diagnostic tool is for restraint system service only. Remove from the vehicle prior to road use. Failure to remove could result in injury and possible violation of vehicle safety standards.
  18. With all the restraint system diagnostic tools removed, prove out the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS .
  19. Check the active restraint system for correct operation. For additional information, refer to SAFETY BELT SYSTEM .
