Removal and Installation

All Vehicles 

1. Raise and support the vehicle. .
2. Disconnect the drain tube.

3. Remove the pin-type retainers.

4. Remove the four screws and position the LH and RH splash shields aside to access the rear bumper cover attachment bolts.

5. Remove the two rear bumper cover to body nuts.

6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Open the luggage compartment lid.
8. Remove the pin-type retainers.

   Taurus 

9. Remove the five pin-type retainers, two nuts, and the scuff plate.
   • Position the LH and RH luggage trim panel aside.

   Sable 

10. 10. Remove the three pin-type retainers, two nuts, and the scuff plate.
    • Position the LH and RH luggage trim panels aside.

    All Vehicles 

11. On Taurus, remove the six rear bumper cover nuts and on Sable remove the eight rear bumper cover nuts.

12. Remove the rear bumper cover.
13. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
