Removal and Installation

All Vehicles 

1. Recover the refrigerant. For additional information, refer to CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .

2. Remove the two bolts and remove the roll restrictor.

3. Remove the bolts and position aside the roll restrictor bracket.

   Vehicles With 3.0L (2V) Engine 

4. Remove the nut.

5. Remove the stud.

6. Position the degas bottle aside.
   1. Disconnect the hose.
   2. Remove the bolt and nut. Position the degas bottle aside.

   Vehicles With 3.0L (4V) Engine 

7. Remove the nut and the A/C hose support bracket.

8. Remove the degas bottle. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .

   All Vehicles 

9. Disconnect the suction accumulator spring lock coupling. Remove and discard the O-ring seal. For additional information, refer to CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
   • During installation, install a new O-ring seal lubricated with PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil (R-134a Systems) F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C), or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
10. Disconnect the A/C cycling switch electrical connector.

11. Disconnect the suction accumulator spring lock coupling. Remove and discard the O-ring seal. For additional information, refer to CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
    • During installation, install a new O-ring seal lubricated with PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil (R-134a Systems) F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C), or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.

12. Remove the screw.

13. Remove the suction accumulator (19C836).
14. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
