Safety Belt System: Notes

WARNING:
All safety belt assemblies including retractors, buckles, front seat belt buckle support assemblies (slide bar), if equipped, shoulder belt height adjusters, if equipped, child safety seat tether bracket assemblies, if equipped, and attaching hardware should be inspected after any collision. All belt assemblies should be installed new unless a qualified technician finds the assemblies show no damage and operate correctly. Belt assemblies not in use during a collision should also be inspected. New safety belt assemblies should be installed if either damage or incorrect operation is noted.
WARNING:
Each seating position in the vehicle has a specific safety belt assembly which consists of one buckle and one tongue. The safety belt assembly is designed to be used as a pair and is not to be used across seating positions.
WARNING:
Rear facing child seats or infant carriers should never be placed in the front seats. If you must use a forward facing child seat, move the seat all the way back.
Excursion and F-Super Duty
The active restraint system consists of:
- Front outboard safety belt buckles (vehicles without seat integrated restraints (SIR)).
- Front outboard safety belt buckles with pretensioners (vehicles with SIR).
- Front outboard safety belt retractors integral to the seat backrest (vehicles with SIR).
- Front outboard safety belt retractors with pretensioners (vehicles without SIR).
- Front row center passenger safety belt buckle and lap belt.
- Second row outboard safety belt retractors.
- Second row inboard safety belt retractor (Excursion 60/40 only).
- Second row safety belt buckles and lap belts.
- Third row outboard safety belt retractors (Excursion only).
- Third row safety belt buckles and lap belts (Excursion only).
- Safety belt shoulder height adjusters (adjustable and nonadjustable).
