Valve Cover - RH: Removal

- Disconnect the battery ground cable (14301). Refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
- Drain the engine cooling system. Refer to ENGINE COOLING .
- Disconnect the crankcase ventilation tube (6758) from the valve cover.
- Disconnect the RH fuel injector electrical connections and the RH ignition coil electrical connections.
- Remove the generator (10300). Refer to GENERATORS & REGULATORS .
- Install the special tool.
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Remove the RH engine mount nuts.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Disconnect the front heater hose.
- Disconnect the vapor management valve vacuum hose and vacuum canister vacuum harness and lift the fuel charging wiring (9D930) off the valve cover studs.
- Using the special tool, raise the engine.
- Remove the RH valve cover.
- Fully loosen the bolts and remove the valve cover.
- Inspect the valve cover gasket (6584) and clean the mating surface of the cylinder head (6049).
CAUTION:
Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges which make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove all traces of old sealant.
NOTE:
The bolts are part of the valve cover and should not be removed.
