Valve Cover RH: Removal

Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
Disconnect the vacuum canister vacuum hose and position it aside.

Remove the nuts. Secure the evaporative emission canister purge valve, bracket and heater water hose out of the way.

Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation tube from the valve cover.

Remove the three suction accumulator bracket screws.

Remove the 11 evaporator core cover screws and remove the evaporator core cover.

Disconnect the RH ignition coil electrical connectors.

Disconnect the RH fuel injector electrical connectors.

Release the harness routing clips from the valve cover stud and the A/C compressor to condenser hose.

Lift the fuel charging wiring off the valve cover studs and position the harness aside.

NOTE: The bolts are part of the valve cover and should not be removed.

Fully loosen the bolts and remove the RH valve cover.

CAUTION: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges which make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove all traces of old sealant.

Clean and inspect the valve cover mating surfaces.
- Clean the valve cover mating surface of the cylinder head with silicone gasket remover and metal surface prep. Follow the directions on the packaging.
- Inspect the valve cover gasket. If the gasket is damaged, remove and discard the gasket. Clean the valve cover gasket groove with soap and water or a suitable solvent.
