Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Ford Pickup, 2004 Ford F550 Super Duty, 2004 Ford F450 Super Duty, and 2004 Ford Excursion. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Using Radio Removing Tool (T87P-19061-A), remove audio unit. Lower steering wheel. Remove 2 instrument cluster finish panel retaining bolts. See Figure.
  2. Position instrument cluster finish panel away from instrument panel. Disconnect instrument cluster finish panel electrical connectors and remove finish panel. Remove PAD switch retaining screws and remove switch. See Fig 1.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Connect negative battery cable. With air bag simulators installed at all deployable devices, perform system operation check. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK . Activate air bag system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
