Removal And Installation

  1. Position the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position and remove the ignition key.
    • Rotate the steering wheel until the steering column locks into position.
  2. Remove the clockspring. For additional information, refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM article.
  3. Position the steering column boot aside.

  5. Remove the steering column coupling upper pinch bolt.
    • To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
  6. If equipped, disconnect the passive anti-theft system (PATS) transceiver module electrical connector.

  8. Disconnect the wiring harness from the steering column.

  10. Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.

  12. Remove the 4 steering column mounting bolts.
    • To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
  13. Remove the steering column assembly.
  14. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
