Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Mercury Sable and 2003 Ford Taurus. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove fuel tank. See FUEL TANK & FUEL TANK DRAINING .
  2. To remove fuel vapor vent valve, grasp firmly the fuel vapor vent valve and apply upward pressure. Push down and rotate fuel vapor control valve counterclockwise, then pull upward to release. See Fig 1. Remove fuel vapor valve tube assembly.
  3. NOTE: Lubricate all "O" rings with MERPOL® "O" Ring Seal Lubricant or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M99B144-B.
  4. To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure EVAP system does not leak. Perform after repair procedure. See AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE .
