Removal & Installation (3.0L 4V)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Mercury Sable and 2003 Ford Taurus. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Clean sealing surfaces with Metal Surface Cleaner (F4AZ-19A536-RA). Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) sealing surfaces are soft metal and care must be taken not to damage sealing surfaces when cleaning.

Disconnect EGR tube nut at exhaust manifold. See Fig 1. Remove differential pressure feedback EGR system vacuum hoses from EGR tube. See Fig 2. Remove exhaust manifold-to-EGR nuts. See Figure. Remove EGR tube and discard gasket. To install, reverse removal procedure. Clean both sealing surfaces with metal surface cleaner. Install a NEW EGR valve gasket. Tighten EGR tube nut and exhaust manifold-to-EGR tube nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
