Removal & Installation (3.0L 4V)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Mercury Sable and 2003 Ford Taurus. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove hoses, loosen clamps and remove air cleaner outlet tube. Remove pin-type retainers and remove accelerator cable splash shield. See Figure. Disconnect throttle cable and cruise control cable. See Figure.
  2. Disconnect Throttle Position (TP) sensor and Idle Air Control (IAC) valve harness connectors. See Figure.
  3. Remove bolts and accelerator cable bracket at the throttle body. See Fig 1. Remove bolt and stud bolt. Remove throttle body. See Fig 2. Remove and discard throttle body gasket.
  4. Clean all sealing surfaces and install a NEW gasket. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten throttle body and accelerator cable bracket bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
