Removal & Installation (3.0L 2V)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Mercury Sable and 2003 Ford Taurus. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove air cleaner outlet tube and accelerator cable shield. See Figure.
  2. Disconnect accelerator cable, speed control actuator cable and throttle return spring from throttle body. See Figure. Remove bolts, then position accelerator cable bracket aside. See Figure.
  3. Disconnect wiring harness from intake manifold support bracket. See Figure. Remove upper intake manifold support bracket. See Figure.
  4. Disconnect Throttle Position (TP) sensor electrical connector. If necessary, remove TP sensor. Remove the 3 throttle body bolts and one stud bolt. Remove throttle body. See Fig 1.
  5. If necessary, remove throttle body gasket. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten throttle body bolts and stud bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
