Removal (3.0L 4V - Upper)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove hoses, loosen clamps and remove air cleaner outlet tube. Remove pin-type retainers and remove accelerator cable splash shield. See Figure. Disconnect throttle cable and cruise control cable. See Figure.
  2. Disconnect Throttle Position (TP) sensor and Idle Air Control (IAC) valve harness connectors. See Figure. Disconnect engine wiring harness from throttle body stud. See Figure.
  3. Disconnect the following from the upper intake manifold:
    • EGR Vacuum Regulator (EVR) valve vacuum supply hose.
    • EGR vacuum supply hose.
    • Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) vacuum hose.
    • EVAP vacuum hose.
  4. Remove EGR vacuum line, nuts and bolts. Remove EGR valve. See Figure.
  5. Remove EVR vacuum line, electrical connector and bolts. Remove EVR valve. See Figure.
  6. Remove 8 bolts retaining upper intake manifold. Remove upper intake manifold. Remove and discard upper intake manifold gaskets and clean all mating surfaces.
