Pinpoint Test Z: The Daytime Running Lamps Are Inoperative
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Lincoln Mark LT and 2007 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
- Z1 CHECK THE REVERSING LAMP OPERATION NOTE: Verify the parking brake control is engaged for this step.
- Apply the parking brake.
- Key in ON position.
- Monitor the reversing lamps while placing the transmission in REVERSE (R) and then into PARK (P).
- Do the reversing lamps operate correctly?
- YES : Go to Z2.
- NO : REFER to Reversing Lamps in this article.
- Z2 CHECK THE DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS (DRL) ENABLE RELAY
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: DRL Enable Relay
- Carry out the DRL enable relay component test. Refer to COMPONENT TESTING.
- Is the DRL enable relay OK?
- YES : Go to Z3.
- NO : INSTALL a new DRL enable relay. TEST the system for normal operation.
- Z3 CHECK VOLTAGE TO THE DRL ENABLE RELAY
- Measure the voltage between the DRL enable relay pin 3, circuit 2017 (WH/RD), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
