Middle Tank
Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain fuel from the fuel tank. See FUEL TANK DRAINING . Raise and support the vehicle. Disconnect fuel tank filler pipe hose and filler pipe vent tube. Remove skid plate, if equipped. Position jack under the fuel tank. Remove bolts. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . Partially lower the fuel tank. Disconnect fuel lines from fuel pump. Disconnect fuel tank connections and evaporative emission return tubes. Disconnect fuel tank pressure sensor harness connector. Disconnect fuel pump electrical harness connector. Lower the fuel tank. If a new fuel tank is being installed, transfer the fuel pump, fuel tank sending unit, evaporative emissions valves, and fuel tank pressure sensor (if equipped) to the new fuel tank. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Perform leak check and monitor procedure.
