Removal & Installation (5.4L)

NOTE:
Numbers in parenthesis refer to numbers in illustrations.
- Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect vacuum hose from fuel pressure regulator. Remove fuel hose tether clamps.
- Disconnect fuel supply and return line connections at fuel supply manifold. See FUEL LINE CONNECTORS . Disconnect fuel injector wiring harness connectors. Remove the crankcase vent hose.
- Loosen the EGR valve-to-exhaust manifold tube nut at the exhaust manifold (1), if equipped. See Fig 1. Disconnect the EGR transducer hoses (2), if equipped. Disconnect the EGR valve-to-exhaust manifold tube at the EGR valve (3) and rotate tube out of the way, if equipped. Disconnect the EGR vacuum hose (4), if equipped. Disconnect vapor management valve hose. Remove fuel supply manifold retaining bolts. See Fig 2. Remove fuel supply manifold with injectors by pulling on injectors while using a rocking motion. Carefully disengage fuel injectors from supply manifold. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
