Removal & Installation (6.8L)

NOTE:
Numbers in parenthesis refer to numbers in illustrations.
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. Remove the engine air cleaner, the air cleaner outlet tube and the accelerator splash shield. Disconnect the accelerator cable and the speed control actuator cable. Disconnect both cables at the throttle bell crank. Disconnect both cables from the accelerator mounting bracket.
- Remove the accelerator return spring. Remove the accelerator mounting bracket bolts. See Figure. Remove the accelerator mounting bracket. Disconnect the PCV hose. If equipped, disconnect and plug or cap the PCV coolant hoses. Disconnect the power brake booster vacuum supply hose and the main vacuum supply line.
- Disconnect the hose and electrical connector from the idle air control valve. Disconnect the throttle position sensor electrical connector. If equipped, remove the two bolts retaining the EGR transducer bracket to the intake manifold. See Figure. Position the bracket and the EGR transducer out of the way.
- Loosen the EGR valve-to-exhaust manifold tube nut at exhaust manifold (1), if equipped. See Fig 1. Disconnect EGR valve-to-exhaust manifold tube at EGR valve (2), if equipped. Disconnect the vacuum line from the EGR valve (3), if equipped. Remove the 4 bolts from the throttle body spacer. See Figure. Remove the throttle body, throttle body spacer, EGR valve and idle air control valve as an assembly. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
