Intake Manifold: Installation

- Position the new intake manifold gaskets. Position intake manifold assembly. Loosely install nine upper intake manifold bolts. Install the thermostat. Install a new "O" ring seal. Install the thermostat housing and loosely install the bolts. Tighten fasteners in sequence. See Fig 1. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Install the exhaust manifold to EGR valve tube hand-tight. Tighten upper EGR valve tube fitting, then lower EGR valve tube fitting. Fill and bleed the engine cooling system.
NOTE:
The thermostat housing bolts are tightened in sequence with the upper intake manifold bolts.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. If lower intake manifold was removed, position lower intake manifold to upper intake manifold and loosely install 10 bolts. Tighten bolts in sequence to specification. See Fig 1. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . If necessary, install the fuel injector supply manifold.
- To install, position gaskets, thermostat, housing and intake manifold assembly. Tighten fasteners to specification. See Fig 2. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Fill and bleed the engine cooling system. Connect the battery ground cable.
