Test Am: Air Conditioning Request Circuits: Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Ford Pickup, 2003 Ford F550 Super Duty, 2003 Ford F450 Super Duty, 2003 Ford Excursion, and 2003 Ford Cab & Chassis. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Verify A/C and defrost were off during self-test. If A/C or defrost were on, turn off and rerun self-test.
- 1) DTC P1464: CHECK ACCS PID
Key on, engine off. A/C and defrost off. Using scan tool, access ACCS PID. Is ACCS PID on? If yes, go to next step. ACCS input to PCM is requesting A/C. See appropriate MANUAL or AUTOMATIC A/C-HEATER SYSTEMS article in AIR CONDITIONING & HEATING to diagnose symptom (A/C always on). If no, he ACCS PID indicates that the ACCS input to the PCM is low. Verify test results. With A/C and defrost off, rerun self-test where P1464 was received. - 2) ACCS PID On: Disconnect A/C Cycling Switch & Check If ACCS PID Turns Off
Disconnect A/C cycling switch. Key on, engine off. Using scan tool, access ACCS PID. Is ACCS PID off? If yes, verify operation of A/C demand switch. See appropriate MANUAL or AUTOMATIC A/C-HEATER SYSTEMS article in AIR CONDITIONING & HEATING. If okay, repair short to power in A/C demand circuit to A/C cycling switch. If no, turn key OFF. Go to next step. - 3) Check ACCS Circuit For Short To Power In Harness
Disconnect PCM. Key on. Measure voltage between PCM harness connector C1381A terminal No. 8 and ground. See CONTROL MODULE CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . Is voltage less than 1.0 volt? If yes, replace PCM. If no, repair short circuit.
