Drive Shaft Slip Yoke: Disassembly

  1. Place the drive shaft on a suitable workbench. DO NOT damage the drive shaft tube. Remove the drive shaft slip yoke from the drive shaft. Cut and discard the drive shaft slip yoke boot clamps.
  2. Index mark the drive shaft slip yoke and the stub shaft. See Fig 1. Cut and discard the drive shaft slip yoke boot clamps. Separate the drive shaft slip yoke from the stub shaft and remove the drive shaft slip yoke.
  3. Remove and discard the drive shaft slip yoke boot. Check the lubricant for contamination. If the lubricant feels gritty, clean and inspect the stub shaft and drive shaft slip yoke for wear. See Fig 2. Install NEW components as necessary.
