Pinpoint Test G

  1. Inspect the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder reservoir. Is the fluid level within the MAX and MIN level marks? If so, go to next step. If not, add High Performance DOT 3 Motor Vehicle Brake Fluid (C6AZ-19542-AB), and check for leaks. If leaks are present, repair as necessary.
  2. Depress clutch pedal. Shift transmission. Does transmission shift smoothly? If so, verify customer concern and if necessary, see SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS (F150)  table under SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS. If not, go to next step.
  3. Remove the transmission. See TRANSMISSION  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove the transmission top cover. See appropriate OVERHAUL article in MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS. Shift the top cover through all gears. Does the top cover shift smoothly? If so, go to next step. If not, repair or install a NEW top cover as necessary.
  4. Visually inspect internal transmission components for indications of excessive wear or damage. Are there indications of internal damage or wear? If so, repair or install NEW internal components as necessary. See appropriate OVERHAUL article in MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS.
