Pinpoint Test E: One High Beam Headlamp Is Inoperative

  1. E1 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE INOPERATIVE HEADLAMP BULB 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Place the headlamp switch in the headlamps ON position.
    • Place the multifunction switch in the high beam position.
    • Disconnect: Inoperative Headlamp.
    • Measure the voltage between the inoperative headlamp, harness side and ground as follows:

      Vehicle Lamp Connector-Pin Circuit
      Mountaineer LH C1021-1 12 (LG/BK)
      Mountaineer RH C1041-1 12 (LG/BK)
      Explorer LH C1020-1 12 (LG/BK)
      Explorer RH C1040-1 12 (LG/BK)

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 

    Yes 

    REPAIR circuit 1205 (BK). TEST the system for normal operation.

    No 

    REPAIR circuit 12 (LG/BK). TEST the system for normal operation.
