WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Mercury Monterey and 2004 Ford Freestar. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. E1 MONITOR THE STOPLAMP SWITCH PID
    • Monitor the SJB stoplamp switch PID while applying and releasing the brake pedal.
    • Do the PID values agree with the application and release of the brake pedal?

    Yes

    GO to E2.

    No

Refer to EXTERIOR LIGHTING to diagnose the stoplamps.

  2. E2 CHECK CIRCUIT 535 (LB/RD) FOR VOLTAGE
    • Disconnect: Speed Control Actuator C122.
    • Key in ON position.
    • While firmly applying the brake pedal, measure the voltage between the speed control actuator C122-9, circuit 535 (LB/RD), harness side and ground.
