	Incorrect fluid level.	CHECK and, if necessary, ADJUST the fluid to the correct level. REFER to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION - 4R100 - E250-E550 or AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - 4R70W - E150 & E250 .
	Fluid condition.	CHECK fluid condition. REFER to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION - 4R100 - E250-E550 or AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - 4R70W - E150 & E250 .
	Incorrect fluid type.	REFER to SPECIFICATIONS .
	Transmission cooling system damaged, blocked, restricted or installed incorrectly.	CARRY OUT the transmission fluid cooler flow test. REFER to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION - 4R100 - E250-E550 or AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - 4R70W - E150 & E250 .
	Cooler bypass valve (CBV) assembly (4R100 only) damaged, blocked, restricted or installed incorrectly.	INSPECT for damage and restrictions. If necessary, REFER to COOLER BYPASS VALVE - 4R100 TRANSMISSION for removal and installation. REFER to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION - 4R100 - E250-E550 for flushing and cleaning procedure.
	System leaks.	REFER to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION - 4R100 - E250-E550 or AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - 4R70W - E150 & E250 .
	Engine overheating.	REFER to ENGINE COOLING .
	Powertrain control system electrical inputs/outputs, vehicle wiring harnesses, powertrain control module (PCM), torque converter clutch (TCC) solenoid.	CARRY OUT on-board diagnostics. REFER to the appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article and AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION - 4R100 - E250-E550 or AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - 4R70W - E150 & E250 .
	Internal transmission concerns.	REFER to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION - 4R100 - E250-E550 or AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - 4R70W - E150 & E250 .
Fluid leak at transmission intank cooler	Transmission fluid cooler-to-fluid cooler fitting.	REFER to the COMPONENT TEST .
