WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Ford RV Cutaway, 2008 Ford Econoline, 2008 Ford E450 Super Duty, and 2008 Ford Cutaway. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
- P1 CHECK CIRCUIT 57 (BK) FOR AN OPEN
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Inoperative Reversing Lamp
- For non-cutaway vehicles, measure the resistance between the LH reversing lamp C451-1, circuit 57 (BK), harness side and ground; or the RH reversing lamp C461-1, circuit 57 (BK), harness side and ground.
- For cutaway vehicles, measure the resistance between the LH reversing lamp C414-2, circuit 57 (BK), harness side and ground; or between the RH reversing lamp C417-2, circuit 57 (BK), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- YES : Go to P2.
- NO : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- P2 CHECK CIRCUIT 140 (BK/PK) FOR AN OPEN
- Apply the parking brake.
- Key in ON position.
- Select REVERSE.
- For non-cutaway vehicles, measure the voltage between the LH reversing lamp C451-3, circuit 140 (BK/PK), harness side and ground; or the RH reversing lamp C461-3, circuit 140 (BK/PK), harness side and ground.
- For cutaway vehicles, measure the voltage between the LH rear lamp C414-1, circuit 140 (BK/PK), harness side and ground; or between the RH rear lamp C417-1, circuit 140 (BK/PK), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- YES : INSTALL a new bulb holder (all except cutaway) or rear lamp (cutaway). TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
