WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis and 2006 Ford Crown Victoria. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
Use the correct probe adaptor(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adaptor(s) may damage the connector.
- C1 CHECK CIRCUIT 484 (OG/BK) FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: EATC Module C228b.
- Disconnect: Manual Climate Control C294d.
- With the parking lamps on, rotate the instrument panel dimmer switch to the maximum brightness level.
- Measure the voltage between the EATC module C228b-14, circuit 484 (OG/BK), harness side and ground; or between the manual climate control C294d-1, circuit 484 (OG/BK), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes : If equipped with the EATC, GO to C2.
If equipped with manual climate control, GO to C3.
No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- C2 CHECK CIRCUIT 19 (LB/RD) FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the voltage between the EATC module C228a-19, circuit 19 (LB/RD), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes : INSTALL a new EATC module. REFER to CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION & DIAGNOSIS . TEST the system for normal operation.
No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- C3 CHECK CIRCUIT 57 (BK) FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance between the manual climate control C294d-2, circuit 57 (BK), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes : VERIFY the manual climate control bulb is OK. If OK, INSTALL a new manual climate control module. REFER to CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION & DIAGNOSIS . TEST the system for normal operation.
No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
