Test R: Traction Control Indicator Is Inoperative
NOTE:
Perform all voltage and resistance tests using an Digital Volt-Ohm Meter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance, unless stated otherwise in test procedure. Use ohmmeter to isolate wiring harness shorts or opens.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster 16-pin harness connector C220a, located behind instrument cluster. SeeFigure. It may be necessary to remove instrument cluster to access connector. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Depress traction control switch to ON position. Measure voltage between instrument cluster harness connector C220a terminals No. 10 (Red/Yellow wire) and No. 11 (White/Pink wire). See Figure. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If battery voltage is not present, go to next step. If battery voltage exists, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. See PRINTED CIRCUIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, test system for normal operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module 30-pin harness connector C135, located at left front of engine compartment. See Figure. Measure resistance between instrument cluster harness connector C220a terminal No. 11 and ABS control module harness connector C135 terminal No. 9 (White/Pink wire). See Figure. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Also measure resistance between ground and instrument cluster harness connector C220a terminal No. 11 (White/Pink wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms at measurement between instrument cluster connector and anti-lock brake control module harness connectors and resistance is more than 10 k/ohms between ground and instrument cluster harness connector, check anti-lock brake system. See appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES. If resistance is more than 5 ohms between instrument cluster harness connector and/or less than 10 k/ohms at measurement between ground and instrument cluster harness connector, repair open or short circuit to ground in White/Pink wire between instrument cluster and ABS module. After repair, test system for normal operation.
