Test V: Cruise Control Indicator Is Inoperative
NOTE:
Perform all voltage and resistance tests using an Digital Volt-Ohm Meter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance, unless stated otherwise in test procedure. Use ohmmeter to isolate wiring harness shorts or opens.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If cruise control indicator light does not remain illuminated, go to next step. If cruise control indicator light remains illuminated. See appropriate CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEMS article. After repair, test system for normal operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C220b, located behind instrument cluster. It may be necessary to remove instrument cluster to access connectors. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Also disconnect speed control servo 10-pin harness connector C122, located in left side of engine compartment. SeeFigure. Measure resistance between instrument cluster harness connector C220b terminal No. 5 and speed control servo harness connector C122 terminal No. 1 (Orange/Light Blue wire). See Figure and Fig 1 . See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open circuit in Orange/Light Blue wire between instrument cluster and speed control servo. After repair, test system for normal operation.
