SYSTEM/COMPONENT REFERENCE (Section 5 Pinpoint Test unless noted)
  1. Battery Condition and Current Draw
  1. Visual. REFER to the Workshop Manual Section 414-00, Charging System and carry out the Inspection and Verification to continue diagnosis.
  1. Secondary Ignition System
  1. For vehicles equipped with a coil pack ignition system, refer to PINPOINT TEST JC - Secondary Ignition (Coil Pack) .
  2. For all others, refer to PINPOINT TEST JB - Secondary Ignition (COP) .
  1. Fuel Delivery System
  1. refer to PINPOINT TEST HC - Fuel Delivery System .
  1. Exhaust System
  1. refer to PINPOINT TEST HF - Catalyst Efficiency Monitor and Exhaust Systems .
  1. PCV System
  1. refer to PINPOINT TEST HG - Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) System .
  1. EVAP System
  1. refer to PINPOINT TEST HX - Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Monitor and System .
  1. Intake Air System

  1. Starting System
  1. REFER to the Workshop Manual Section 303-06, Starting System and diagnose the engine cranks slowly symptom.
  1. MAF Sensor
  1. refer to PINPOINT TEST DC - Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor .
  1. Additional Testing
  1. refer to PINPOINT TEST Z - Intermittent .
  1. Additional Checks:
    • For vehicles equipped with 2 camshaft position (CMP) sensors, verify the CMP1 and CMP2 circuits are not shorted together.
