Test V: Door Ajar Indicator Is Inoperative/Always On
- Operate interior lights by opening and closing all doors and liftgate. If interior lighting system functions correctly, go to next step. If interior lighting system does not function correctly, repair interior lights. See INTERIOR LIGHTS in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL.
- Turn ignition to LOCK position. Connect NGS tester (418-F052). Turn ignition switch to ON position. Enter GEM active command mode. Select GEM warning lamps and turn door ajar indicator on and then off . If door ajar indicator is on when commanded on and off when commanded off, go to step 7. If door ajar indicator is not on when commanded on and off when commanded OFF, go to next step.
- Turn ignition to LOCK position. Disconnect GEM connector C105. Connect a 5-amp fused jumper wire between harness connector C105 terminal No. 19 and ground. If door ajar indicator is on with jumper wire connected and off with jumper wire disconnected, go to step 7. If door ajar indicator is not on with jumper wire connected and not off with jumper wire disconnected, go to next step.
- Turn ignition to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C809. Measure resistance between harness connector C809 terminal No. 24 (Black/Blue wire) and harness connector C105 terminal No. 19. Also measure resistance between harness connector C809 terminal No. 24 and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms between harness connector harness connector C809 and C105, and greater than 10 k/ohms between harness connector C809 and ground, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, repair open or short to ground in Black/Blue wire.
- Turn ignition ON. Measure voltage between harness connector C809 terminal No. 24 and ground. If any voltage is present, repair short to power in Black/Blue wire. If no voltage is present, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Check for corrosion, pushed out pins and connectors that are not connected properly. Repair any damage found and reconnect any loose connectors. Operate system. If problem still exists, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Configure replacement instrument cluster, see MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article. If problem does not exist, system is operating properly at this time. Clear any DTCs and retest.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Check for corrosion, pushed out pins and connectors that are not connected properly. Repair any damage found and reconnect any loose connectors. Operate system. If problem still exists, replace GEM. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article. Configure replacement GEM, see MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article. If problem does not exist, system is operating properly at this time. Clear any DTCs and retest.
