Test A: No Communication With Instrument Cluster

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C809. See Fig 1. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 14 (Orange wire) at instrument cluster harness connector. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Orange wire and retest.
  2. Turn ignition to ACCESSORY position. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 10 (Yellow/Blue wire) at instrument cluster harness connector. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Yellow/Blue wire and retest.
  3. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 16 (Green/Red wire) at instrument cluster harness connector. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Green/Red wire and retest.
  4. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 2 (Black/Orange wire) at instrument cluster harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair module communications concern. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/Orange wire and retest.
